Job Description:
The Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society is currently seeking a Summer Student Position of a Archival Coordinator. This position will be responsible for: -planning and promoting tours for visitors of all ages -develop educational program for students of various ages -assist in the museum's archives when needed -work with the community to get family history into the archives -complete a summer project to be set out by the Executive Director -represent the museum at events within the community -development membership and volunteer involvement -develop in coordination with other employees and volunteers, special events -create videos and images to be used on various social media platforms -assist in digitizing records
Qualifications & Education:
The ideal student would be a student in History, Education or Museum Studies, preferably with a background in Canadian History. A strong background with Social Media and Microsoft Office is an asset. The student must possess strong interpersonal skills as the position with be dealing with the public on a regular basis. A student with a love of history and great teaching skills will be ideal for this position.
Duration / Status of Position:
Job Start Date: 20 June 2016 Job End Date: 13 August 2016 This position is based on a Canada Summer Jobs. This means the Student must have attended school full time in the last session, and be returning to full time studies in September 2016.
Hours of Work:

The Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the history of Chatham-Kent’s Black Community and their influence across North America. Our organization aims to educate the residents of Chatham-Kent and visitors about the legacy left by the early Black pioneers and refugees who helped to build the city.
