Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities Staff • Ensure staff adhere to Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and GTFRC Policies • Ensure all staff are developing weekly programs consistent with GTFRC philosophy/program statement and supervise emergent pedagogy within the classrooms • Conduct annual staff performance appraisals in consultation with Director • Organize student placements and volunteers • Participate, promote, and recommend, training programs, conferences, courses pertaining to professional growth • Be a role model for your staff • Conduct site orientations to new staff • Provide training on GTFRC policies and procedures and ensure sign off • Supervise emergent pedagogy within the classrooms • Ensure staff sign off on GTFRC policies, ISP, Medical plans, Anaphylactic and place in visible location in office or staff room • If necessary conduct feedback meetings for staff who require additional support to meet job description requirements • Schedule staff weekly • Participate in staff meetings • Notify Director of personal schedule adjustments • Program statement meetings • Monthly Supervisor check list • Call in staff replacements • Maintain Ministry required information for staff under their location (see phone list) Internal Operations • Oversee children with special needs and facilitate meetings and resources when needed • Oversee Health & Safety regulations as necessary – distribute binders • Coordinate ordering and purchasing in consultation with Director • Participate in Board Meetings. Prepare business arising from minutes and distribute documents in advance of monthly meetings and distribute minutes • Communicate and comply with Child Care Early Years Act • Communicate and comply with Employment Standards Act • Lead specialized committees – E.g. School age, dress code, playground, Health & Safety • Communicate and comply with Board of Health regulations • Organize, maintain and follow up on child waiting list • Enroll new families and provide onsite orientation • Oversee maintenance of child files • Authorized to make purchases up to $1,000 • Ensure all program records are retained – Playground, water flushing, accident reports, health logs, ASQ (Child Assessment tool) • Ensure mandatory documents are posted • In case of Emergency – enact protocols • Be available for staff and parent conferences when necessary • Maintain accurate, organized filing system • Handle phone inquiries and other general business • Process parents weekly schedules • Maintain accident reports • Ensure site is prepared for License Inspection External Operations • Keep agencies and site principal informed of onsite community events, tours, promotions • Act as liaison with GTFRC, school principal and custodian • Act as liaison with ECE staff, special needs agency and parents • Act as liaison to School Board Facility • Inspect the facility to ensure it is healthy and safe for staff and children • Assist in the maintenance of equipment by evaluation, recording and submitting Health and Safety reports and submit Work Order to site school if applicable • Coordinate use of space at the site • Responsible for site evacuation • Ensure outdoor landscaping and indoor decor is appealing and safely maintained, clean, updated and organized • Oversee monthly site specific fire drills • Oversee monthly and seasonal playground checks • Oversee water flushing check and maintain forms. Conduct annual lead test • Initiate bi-annual lockdown/tornado drills per insurance requirements Work Conditions • Interacts with students, teachers, administration, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel under all circumstances. • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. • Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed, to lift children (up to 45 lbs.), including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing and pulling, and sitting and walking. • Noise level can be moderate to loud. • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting students, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming • Overtime as required.
Qualifications & Education:
Qualifications • E.C.E. diploma in good standing with College of ECEs • Minimum 2 years teaching experience • Medical certificate of good health and clear TB test • Standard First Aid, C.P.R.-C certified and maintained • Vulnerable Sector Reference check • Preferably previous administrative skills • High level of energy. • High levels of patience. • Excellent problem solving skills. • Excellent negotiation and mediation skills. • Ability and willingness to perform required physical tasks. • Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners. • High level of attention to confidentiality. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, etc. • Willing to participate in ongoing learning. • Ability to converse well in a professional manner with staff and parents Negotiated hours to be available to work outside of the regularly scheduled hours to accommodate for meetings or to receive or contribute information regarding the organizations’ operations.
Duration / Status of Position:
Full time position. 2 weeks paid vacation 4 paid flex days 2 paid sick days Savings plan RRSP
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week 8:30 - 4:30 pm
