Immunizations (also known as shots or vaccines) save lives and prevent serious illnesses.

Immunizations are given to children against diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), pertussis (whooping cough), pneumococcal infections, meningitis, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B and human papillomavirus.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is required by law to keep immunization records or exemption documents of all students attending school or in daycare facilities.
