Building Credit

Credit ratings are generally not transferred between countries. You must approach a bank or financial institution in Canada in order to rebuild your credit.

You can do this with a secured credit card. You make regular payments on the credit card to earn a good credit rating. To learn more about secured credit cards visit:

If your current bank operates in Canada, ask if you can open a Canadian account. You might be able to transfer your credit history with it.

To learn how you can gain credit visit settlement.org or Credit Welcome Centre.
