Second-Hand and Consignment Stores

Second-hand stores offer gently used clothing, household items, and furniture for affordable prices. The local community donates the items for resale.

If you have items that you no longer want, please donate them.

Consignment stores have used goods such as clothing, furniture, antiques, and books at low-prices. A consignment store gives the original owner of the item a percentage of the total sale price.

For example, if a t-shirt sold for $9.00, then you may get 75% of the sale price, which is $6.75. The store will keep the remaining 25% of the sale. Every store has a different policy. The unsold items are returned to you or donated to charity.

Garage Sales & Bazaars

Garage sales, also called “yard sales" are ways to find used and inexpensive items. Residents sell their old belongings from their driveway or front lawn.

The seller sets the price but it is negotiable. Garage sales typically run between the hours of 7 am and 2 pm on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

The term “Early Birds” is given to buyers who arrive very early in the morning to find the best bargains.

Ads for garage sales appear in the newspaper and on posters around the neighbourhood.

Local churches host large garage sales or bazaars, where multiple sellers bring their items to one location to sell.

Check local newspapers and the community calendar for garage sales or bazaars.
