
Mission: To promote and foster personal growth and adjustment for all, including immigrants, in Chatham-Kent through further education, training, and opportunities that support independence and employment.
Free literacy services are provided!
Through the Adult Language and Learning program (ALL), prospective clients are interviewed, individual goals are established, and clients are placed in one of the following programs or are referred to an appropriate agency.
• One on One tutors (LBS)
• Literacy Basic Skills (LBS) and Essential Skills training, Levels 1-5 in a classroom setting
• Pre-PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment Recognition) and
• GED prep (General Equivalency Diploma)
• English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
• Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) levels (1-7)
• Citizenship classes on an as needed basis
• Immigrant Settlement Adaptation Program (ISAP)
• Settlement services are available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese on site and satellite sites in the Chatham-Kent communities
• Newcomer Information Centre (NIC)
• Information Sessions for Immigrants and Newcomers
• Other Language classes
• A computer lab with literacy/numeracy programs is also available
• Onsite childcare available for LINC and ISAP clients
• Immigrant Employment Worker / Job Search Workshops (JSW)
Adult Language and Learning services are FREE for those people who are eligible. All programs are available for a FEE for those not eligible for funded services.
All services are funded by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and by the Government of Canada through the Department of Citizenship and Immigration.
