Chinese Language School

The Chatham-Kent Chinese Association (phone: 519.436.4600 ext. 2373) offers Chinese language learning to Chatham-Kent residents. The classes are designed to teach Chinese culture through learning the Chinese language. There are two classes available; children's classes and adult classes. Children’s classes are suitable for children between the ages of 4-12; and adult classes are for those from the age of 13+ . The classes are held at the Chatham Public Library in downtown Chatham. The class schedules vary throughout summer and wintertime.

Arabic School

The Chatham-Kent Muslim Association began the Arabic School to provide Arabic speaking children in the community the opportunity to maintain their culture, roots, and use of the language spoken at home.

This program is also formulated to give non-Arabic speaking children a chance to learn a new language and to familiarize themselves with Arabic literature and culture.

The Arabic School has students from varying age groups and various towns in Chatham-Kent. Currently, there are three classes divided according to the children’s ages and capabilities.

Class A: The children learn all of the characters thoroughly; recognizing, reading, speaking and writing with various techniques. These students are from Junior Kindergarten to 2nd Grade levels.

Class B: The children learn how to join the characters and learn to read, write and speak words commonly used in everyday language. These students are from 3rd Grade level to 6th Grade.

Class C: The students are from 7th Grade level to Adult.
