Bothwell

Bothwell is a small town community of approximately 968 residents, located on the north eastern limits of Chatham-Kent.

The Bothwell-Zone Oil Museum which is the last remaining example in Canada of the power source that serviced 60 oil wells at one time during the oil boom of the 1860 area. Many of the community’s old oil wells are still standing, marking the community’s rich history. Fairfield Museum & National Historic Site houses some important artifacts from what was the first settlement of Southwestern Ontario—Fairfield Village.

The community is home to a number of businesses; Harold Marcus, GWS Tube Forming Ltd., Comptank Corp, and Bothwell Manufacturing Co Ltd. Fine Furniture.

Many people travel far and wide to visit Parks Blueberries, a blueberry farm and store located in Bothwell open with all year around. In the winter months over 4000 families annually visit the Emerald Acres-Sloan’s Christmas Tree Village and U-Cut to get their Christmas tree and take part in various other activities they offer. The Old Autos Newspaper and Bothwell and District Optimist Club host the Bothwell Optifest and Car Show Weekend, in August.

Bothwell promotes a very healthy lifestyle with recreational facilities that include an arena, athletic fields, and a skate-board park.
