Youth Employment Centre
St. Clair College delivers two employment programs through the Chatham-Kent Youth Employment Centre. Both the Job Connect and the Summer Jobs Service Programs are funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Free services available to the general public include:
• Job Search Support Services – computer access, internet service, faxing, photocopying, WHMIS certification
• Job Search Strategy Sessions – resume, interview, employment search
• Job Search Outreach Sessions – specialized sessions designed for schools, community groups and agencies
• Job Connect and Summer Jobs Service Delivery Site – Provincial training dollars available to the community (eligibility criteria applies)
Job Connect is an employment program for youth aged 16 to 24 who are out of fulltime school and out of fulltime work. Free employment counseling services are available to eligible young people who register with the Centre. Employers can apply for assistance in hiring young people and may be eligible for a wage subsidy for providing training on the job.
Summer Jobs Service is a summer program for young people aged 15 to 24 who are still in school, but looking for summer employment. The program provides free services to improve your job-search and self-marketing skills. It also provides a $2/hour wage support for jobs with businesses and farms, as well as with not-for-profit and other community organizations.
