B.D.M. Millwrights Inc.

148 Cathcart Street, Blenheim

Here at B.D.M. Millwrights Inc. we service the agri-business and food packaging sectors in several locations throughout Ontario and the world. Being situated in Chatham-Kent allows us to competitively service that market while providing our employees with a good standard of living.  The majority of our employees have local, rural roots which provide them with a solid base from which to contribute to our clients’ solutions. Chatham-Kent is also strategically located close to access points to our local markets and close to terminal points through which we can easily service our international clients.  In addition to these factors, the Municipality’s Economic Development Department is “manufacturer-friendly” and has been both progressive and instrumental in sustaining a favourable environment in which to do business.

Buxton National Historic Site & Museum

We are pleased to be part of the rich heritage that is deeply embedded within Chatham Kent. As one of the last stops on the Underground Railroad, we have seen an increase in the number of visitors who are thirsting for more knowledge about Canadian history. And as part of cultural tourism, we would like to showcase this area as the business and leisure destination in Chatham Kent.

Kejay Farms Inc.

We started in-depth work with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the Agricultural Coordinator position when we decided to take advantage of some provincial programs that were of some benefit to the farm. The Agricultural Coordinator was able to provide helpful suggestions, secure resources, and support from the Municipality.”

“Agriculture is 24/7. When things are busy, it is good to know that the Agricultural Coordinator will come out to the operation and meet with you to discuss the issues that really matter and take the time to understand the operation.

Thames Van Farms Ltd.

With the help and guidance of Chatham-Kent’s Economic Development department we were able to secure a government grant that allowed our business to triple cucumber production in Chatham-Kent. The application was time sensitive and their intricate knowledge of agriculture provided a great resource to build the foundation of a successful application. They believe in partnerships and through this project they demonstrated their commitment to building a strong economy to benefit the community. We truly view the wonderful people in Economic Development as strategic partners in our business.

University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus

Here at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus, we have been embarking on a number of initiatives and partnering with others regarding the bio-economy as it relates to agriculture. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has been a strong partner and supporter of the CARES (Centre for Agricultural Renewable Energy and Sustainability) project from the beginning. The Agricultural Coordinator took an active role from day one in brainstorming, planning, and now as a Director with CARES. We are proud to work as partners with Chatham-Kent and look forward to many exciting initiatives in the future.
