Municipal Government

The Chatham-Kent Municipal Council is comprised of one Mayor and seventeen Councilors. The Mayor is elected at large from Chatham-Kent and Councilors are elected from one of six geographical regions (wards) that make up Chatham-Kent. Municipal elections are held every four years.
The next municipal election will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010.
Voting is a fundamental right of our democracy. When you vote, you are selecting representatives who will make the laws and policies that determine how our Municipality functions and how we live together.
Municipal government is involved in many aspects of our daily lives – from fixing roads, providing water and electricity, collecting garbage, caring for children and the elderly, running public transit, supporting the arts and protecting our citizens.
